Most of these can be scheduled for your small group of
friends, family, and/or co-workers.
There is value in sharing an experience of exploration with those you
know! These retreats (with the exception of those involving the labyrinth) can
take place at The Remembering Place or at another site of your choice.
Individual or Group Labyrinth Walks
You may reserve a time to walk the labyrinth alone and
linger in the natural setting for reflection. Group walks are scheduled
occasionally at a particular time of day such as sunset or full-moon
light. Special arrangements can also be
made for couple, family or friend walks. Marking or celebrating a life event
such as a birthday, wedding or graduation is another way to use the labyrinth. We will be happy to talk with you about ways
you can create a walk to reflect and enhance your intention for the occasion.
Labyrinth Retreats
A labyrinth retreat provides extended time to walk the
labyrinth and process the insight gained is valuable for the person seeking
meaning, change, or greater intention in their life. Structure and theme are given to the retreat while allowing
personal time to integrate the experience.
Specific themes can be planned for use with the labyrinth such as healing,
decision-making, creativity, and recognizing personal patterns.
Breathwalk Training
Breathwalk is a combination of walking, focused
breathing, stretching, and meditation used as a complete exercise program. It's easy to learn and enjoyable to do! Once you know the basics, you can Breathwalk
in the hallway, up and down your stairs, along a favorite path or even on an
indoor treadmill. Benefits include
increased energy level, mood control, refined mental quality, and feelings of
connectedness. Gurucharan Singh Khalsa, co-founder of Breathwalk, says there is
a spiritual benefit as well. "Embracing
our spirit is something our modern culture has marginalized, but that embrace
is the very balance that we need to be vital and content as we progress into a
globalized and interconnected world."
Breathwalk can be taught to both individuals or groups. Trainings will be scheduled periodically at The
Remembering Place. Feel free to call
for your personalized session.
Introduction to Breathwalk takes between 2-3 hours and the $40 fee includes
the Breathwalk book. For more
information, visit www.breathwalk.com.
The No-Dance-Lesson Dance
This half-day retreat is a time of experiencing
different kinds of movement and creating your own dance to express YOU. Since ancient times, women have danced to
express and celebrate their deepest life and interior experiences. It is a gift to enter a circle of sacred
dancers. You need not have ANY formal
dance training or history. That's the
beauty and safety of this!
Silent Day of Retreat
Our modern world is a noisy and busy one and
sometimes we just need a time-out. A
planned time of quiet reflection away from home may just be the thing to soothe
the soul. Give yourself the gift of silence and reflection while spending time
in the country. Allow time to pause and
listen to your heart and soul. Perhaps
the next step of your journey will reveal itself or you'll just enjoy a
peaceful day without an agenda. The opportunity is there to find renewal and
gratitude as you come fully into the present moment.
Planning for Change
The rules of the game have
changed. No longer can we predict what the future will bring. The only
certainty is continuous, or even discontinuous, change. There are many paths to
choose from, each with its own attractions and perils. The world can be
unpredictable, and we must chart our own course. To thrive in today's
world, we need to learn how to identify our location in the adult development
journey - even as that location changes. We need to examine what to take on and
what to set aside.
This workshop demonstrates the
importance of being able to manage change. It is a half-day program that
provides a process and tools to help participants understand a natural and
predictable pattern of change and to know how to identify their own location in
that cycle. They learn how to evaluate their current environment and create
plans to take action around choices that support their highest goals.
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) has been defined by
Reuven Bar-On, Ph.D., as an array of noncognitive capabilities, competencies,
and skills that influence one's ability to succeed in coping with environmental
demands and pressures. Using the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory
(EQi®) to assess their own EQ level in the five realms and fifteen subscales of
the EQi® and a one hour personal debriefing, participants will have insight
into their personal strengths and possible strategies for addressing potential
challenges prior to the workshop. During the workshop additional
background information and exercises will demonstrate how EQ is a factor in
determining success at life and has been shown to correlate with potential for
performance. The components resemble personality factors however EQ can
change and can be altered with training / coaching and practice.
Participants will leave with greater awareness of their own EQ along with clear
action plans to build on current strengths and to enhance lower areas for
increased life success.
